Certus Management Group is excited to announce that we are participating as a team this year in the Wheeler Mission Drumstick Dash! Though a few Certus employees have participated in the Drumstick Dash in the past, this is the first year that CMG has a team running.
While the goals of the company are to raise $2500 and get as many people to participate on the team as possible, the larger goal of the Drumstick Dash is to raise money for the Wheeler Mission’s efforts. These include feeding and housing the homeless of Indianapolis. The catchy slogan “move your feet so others can eat” took effect when the Wheeler Mission started the Drumstick Dash in November of 2003. Every year, thousands of adults and children run and walk just under 5 miles during the race, which is Wheeler Mission’s biggest fundraising event.
The Race will be held on Thanksgiving morning in Broad Ripple, but there is a virtual option, allowing participants to run or walk their chosen distance from anywhere in the world at any time. The pandemic last year brought about the start of this virtual racing option, but Wheeler Mission has chosen to keep this option as it allows for more participants and more flexibility.
Certus Management Group Principal Steve Butz and his family have been running in the Drumstick Dash for several years now to support the Wheeler Mission. Steve says “I have come to know Wheeler Mission as an incredibly effective and efficient ministry serving the needs of our community’s most vulnerable population. On a day meant to celebrate all the ways in which we are blessed in abundance, it just seems appropriate to spend a little time remembering and serving those who find themselves in less fortunate circumstances.” This year the company wants to encourage any of its staff to get in on the fun of Drumstick Dash, so a Certus Management Team was created, and the word was spread. With another two months to go before the race, Certus Management Group and their friends and family are well on their way to meeting their goals. The team has raised about a third of their target amount, and several employees who have never run the race have signed up, both for the in-person and virtual race.
